First and foremost, if you can’t get Zoom to work, you should check Zoom’s service status to see if the problem is at Zoom’s end. Point your browser at status. Check the Zoom service status page. Look for Zoomdown on Twitter. If the site is down for everyone, someone probably tweeted about it. Try other major sites like Google or YouTube. All will tell you if Zoom works for everyone. You’ll usually be prompted to update when you open Zoom if there’s an update, but it’s always worth checking, as some features change between updates. Zoom says my connection is unstable: Unfortunatly this happens from time to time. This is a local connection problem so the first thing is to check your Wi-Fi connection or wired connection. It’s worth running a speed test – just Google speed test and you’ll get the option to run a quick test where you can see if there really is a speed problem.

If you’re using Wi-Fi, see if you can plug into a wired connection instead, as it’s likely to be more stable than Wi-Fi, or move closer to your router. This is definitely worth doing if you always have a connection problem on Zoom. If it’s a one-off problem, there’s likely nothing you can do about it except wait for the problem to pass – you could try stopping all other activity on your connection to let Zoom have all the bandwidth available.

Check you’re not muted: When you join a Zoom meeting you’ll normally have to click to activate the microphone, because you’re muted. Look for the microphone icon in the bottom left hand corner, if it’s crossed out, click it to unmute your microphone.

Go to Solution. If you have a Mac – I had this issue for ages and was unable to resolve it. I finally did a little more looking, and found this StackExchange post that suggested uninstalling Zoom by using their uninstall file instead of putting the Application in the trash.

My other MacBook ran Zoom perfectly fine though. Anyone found a solution yet? Zoom still works on my Imac but that is running Catalina so won’t be updating that until this issue on my laptop is sorted.

I have same issue too! In browser this is working and my phone app too, only mac have problem What is it? Zoom in mac worked early It should be marked officially as “answer” whoever can do that. Erina maybe? I reported the issue as fixed after signing in with my personal email account.

Then, I tried to use SSO to sign in on the desktop client and had some errors associated with that, and when I went back to sign in with my gmail address I again could not connect to Zoom to log in.

So I used the uninstaller again and reinstalled the client – and I will no longer attempt using SSO on the desktop app. Clemson employees needing a large meeting or Zoom webinar should review relevant information in the Additional Information section.
